Cleaning My Room | Poetry

See I wonder if we actually realize
That our life is just like a musical reprise
It goes on and on, like a repetitive motion
So here’s to that, my narrative devotion

Just last week, I was cleaning my room
Removing everything with my cloth and vacuum
Papers, notes and books everywhere
And a lesson uncovered that I wanna share

University notes, loose sheets all were found
From every subject all over my ground
Physiology, Anatomy, New Testament Greek
Biochemistry, Pathology, my studying peak

Character sheets, my notes from DnD
And all of the characters that were played by me
Rawrkus Thunderstone and Billy Bittybundle
Markelhoff, printed repeats in a bundle

Bible studies and camp books too
Speaking of the Gospel, speaking words of truth
KYCK, Next Gen and MYC
CPC, CYA, a massive knowledge spree

Now see the connection that are between these three
Is that I used to think that they all were key
But their physical state now, says more than my words do
Forgotten on the floor was something I was used to

What was left over, what was covered in dust
Once valued but then my life chose to adjust
Chose to value new and different things
They all changed quick as my life did swing

But let me tell you something that didn’t change much
Timeless, unmoving something that never  budge
The Alpha, Omega and the Bread of Life
Savior and King, He’s my Lord Jesus Christ

See I was reminded, as I cleaned up my stuff
That things in life change, other things interrupt
You value it now but will you value it later
Just take a step back, see the things that are greater

See I was reminded, as I cleaned up my stuff
That things in life change, other things interrupt
You value it now but will you value it later
Just take a step back, see the things that are greater

Living By Faith | Poetry

I got big dreams and my head in the skies
I gotta get serious is what my family  does advise
And it ain’t a surprise when they choose to surmise
That my faith ain’t wise, it’s just a bunch of lies

And man it’s hard to live when they misconstrue
My main reason for living and what I choose to pursue
They don’t see what I love, and they think that I’m lost
It’s hard to feel the love, when all I see is the frost

Your faith can’t feed ya, so just drop it and quit
It’s the prime of your life, you really shouldn’t waste it
But I’m not gonna give up, I’m not giving in
If it’s not right now, then my question is when?

Going after God, wherever He goes
That never will change, through the highs and the lows
Living by faith and not by sight
Cause I know for sure that my God provides

I got big dreams and my head in the skies
I’m just trying to be real,  not hidden in disguise
And what that implies, is that I’m tryna catalyze
All of God’s people to think likewise

That living for God, and following Him
Often ain’t easy, often looks pretty dim
But keep on trusting, having faith in the King
That He’s got yo back and He’ll give you reason to sing

Love God with your all and please love one another
I plead this to you all my sisters and brothers
That wherever you are and whatever you’re doing
Make the hard choice it’s Christ you’re pursuing

Going after God, wherever He goes
That never will change, through the highs and the lows
Living by faith and not by sight
Cause I know for sure that my God provides

I got big dreams and my head in the skies
Trying to envision, trying to actualize
What it might look like and where He might take me
Stepping off of the boat and stepping onto the sea

Can’t stop for my parents, they be blowing like the wind
And can’t look at my money, it’s not where I’m being sent
Birds of the skies and the flowers of the field
He’ll supply all my needs as His kingdom comes near

I guess this is it, what I’d say is my synopsis
Things of my life, and my God who’s a colossus
And I can’t see the future but got a hope ensured
Cause all else will fade only God endures

Going after God, wherever He goes
That never will change, through the highs and the lows
Living by faith and not by sight
Cause I know for sure that my God provides

Going after God, wherever He goes
That never will change, through the highs and the lows
Living by faith and not by sight
Cause I know for sure that my God provides

Reflection | Poetry

Reflection, that’s the name of the game
Put my words onto paper before I go insane
Just tryna share my thoughts and  what I feel inside
So please come on board, and please enjoy the ride

So coming out straight I’m bringing my perspective
To encourage and uplift is my directive
Opening blind eyes and awakening souls
To go against the flow of society’s mould

So first things first I think I move too fast
But funnily enough I’m actually ending up in last
So even though I do so much in my life
I can’t focus, so don’t have the right sights

Everything gets blurry when you don’t stop to think
Stories, emotions and knowledge go by in a blink
So please take your lens and switch it to corrective
Stop for a second and start to be reflective

Yo, just stop and think
Yo, just stop and think
Yo, just stop and think
Just take a second and just stop to think

And don’t get me wrong, I love to hustle
But the symptoms it shows, man it ain’t subtle
Like long, dark eye bags and sagging cheeks
Fatigued and drained, definitely not at my peak

Producing and creating again and again
It’s a real big drain and just hurts my brain
People say “work hard, it’ll be for the best”
But honestly sometimes, the best is in the rest

You get to stop and see the good and the bad
You get to stop and see what makes you glad
You get to stop and see your art grow
Improving each day as you learn to flow

So I’m pleading to you and I’m saying it again
You gotta reflect and make sure not to neglect
The time you have to just stop and think
Before you get pushed straight to the brink

Yo, just stop and think
Yo, just stop and think
Yo, just stop and think
Just take a second and just stop to think

Now I’m bringing it home, with the third and last verse
Gotta share my opinion, gotta keep it diverse
Cause with a God so big, I can’t help but say
That I live for Him, cause He lights the way

And I’m being really honest, I’m being really frank
Gotta give Him all the glory, gotta give Him the thanks
And that ain’t gonna happen, without stopping to think
He’s the pen to my paper, He’s my spiritual ink

He’s the words I write
He’s my source of life
He’s the one true King
And the beat kicks in

Yo, just stop and think
Yo, just stop and think
Yo, just stop and think
Just take a second and just stop to think

Rhymes | Gravity, Wind and Drowning

Gravity
Uncontrollably attracted by
Pulls me straight down
All the way to the ground

And you can’t even escape it
Nope, don’t even try
Affects your life daily
But can’t be seen by eye

It’s the force that attracts
Each mass to another
The one that’s more weighty
Is the one that pulls the other

And you might not even like it
You might say that it traps you
But hey you’re gonna need it
Cause without it there’s no O2

Wind
That’s what’s next, that’s what’s up
And it pushes you around
Whether you like it or not

You can feel it as it flows by
Can see it as birds fly
It’ll push you if it wants
Without having to try

If it builds up really hard
And turns into a  hurricane
Better get away fast
Or you’ll regret you came

You’ll see it from a distance
No chance to defy it
Before the storm comes there is…
[Silence]

Drowning
That’s what’s next in the order
It’s the H 2 and O
That’s chemical water

It’ll be all around
And totally surround ya
It’ll be overwhelming
So ya can’t get far

Dictate your every action
And every little movement
Can you hold your breath?
And just dance with it?

Cause whether you like it
Or whether you don’t
It’ll sway you side to side
Back and forth you’ll be thrown

Now I’m not sure if you realised
This was all intentional
I want to say a message
In a way that’s unconventional

Gravity, Wind and Drowning
Were the three
Words that I chose
To speak about me

Gravity is how I feel
As I look above
Uncontrollably attracted
To God’s love

Wind is what happens
As I look at sin
I get pushed around
And life gets real dim

Drowning is the reality
Of God’s grace
It surrounds and consumes me
Never fail to amaze

Hope you saw a little
Of how I see life
Uncontrollably in love
With my God, Jesus Christ

Rain | Spoken Word

Today it rained…
It actually poured
As the drops hit the roof
It sounded like applause

And it caught my attention
As I left the bus door
Silently I watched
As if it was an encore

Fascinating really
That water rains from above
But then hits the ground
Journey stopped abrupt

I walked back inside
So the sound did die
But as I close my eyes
It’s like the song’s reprise

Down on my bed
As I begin to lie
Just like a lullaby
Given and supplied

That it soothes my thoughts
My fast life, it caught
Reflection it brings
And brings my heart to sing

Of how this rain
Reminds me of Him
Who soothes my soul
And with me, does stroll

He’s like the rain
When I use an umbrella
Instead of embracing Him
I rush straight through the weather

So right now and here
In this very endeavor
I’m gonna stop and sing
To my God forever

That every single thing
That this world does offer
From the sun to the moon
And the cloud storms that loom

Has a reflection of God
Because He made it all
So stop and listen
Just relax and pause

To hear the rain
As it pitters and patters
Because it’s telling you
Of the One who matters

God is Love | Spoken Word

This is love: not that we loved God,
But that He loved us and sent His Son down
As an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
Read 1 John Chapter 4, Verse 10

Yo cause that’s where I’m gonna start
Couldn’t find a more fitting place for our hearts
Grounded in scripture was always the key
And the Spirit opening our blind eyes here to see

So how bout I break down this verse
Love here isn’t fluffy, it’s actually pretty perverse
Even though you might not expect it, love is found in death
Cause Jesus came down and gave His very last breath

It wasn’t nice, happy or pleasant to see
Life left him like the words leave the emcee
If love had an image it would be in Jesus Christ
Hanging on the cross as He gave His very life

See it’s because we have this thing called sin
Which means we aren’t close to God we actually reject Him
And because God is just, there’s an equal punishment
For the wages of sin is death in eternal torment

So you and me we need to pay what is due
Our own deaths to die for our biggest issue
And see this is where the beauty really kicks in
Jesus took our death, and our life really begins

Now think about this, God IS love
It’s not simply He does the very act of love
But the very fact that He Himself IS love
His very core nature is perfect love

That means He doesn’t relent, He doesn’t actually stop
He keeps going on and on, for His daughters and sons
And even when you don’t really treat Him right
He still cares for you, yo isn’t that tight?

Yo sing with me!  Isn’t that tight?
Yo sing with me! Isn’t that tight?
The person we have in God, He loves us right
Come on sing to Him and set your hearts alight

Now… if you’re actually loved by God
Then you can actually go out there and go love someone
But don’t forget that perfect love is found in God
So the best way to love, is to share the Gospel

Is cause … then they can come and know God
They can live in God, and God in them
The perfect love.  The love we all need.
God is love.

So what y’all doing here?  Go out there and go love someone.
Go share that good news.  Go show them perfect love.
God is love.
Peace

Psalm 4 | Spoken Word

Oh God I pray for patience
That you might help me persist
Even though I am in distress
Remind me that You are in my midst

Oh God please help me to wait
As the world laughs and scorns
Mocks, shames and pains
As I cry out again and again

Oh God help me not to sin
But instead help me to trust
In You the sovereign Lord
As I await the holy reward

Oh God fill me with joy
Let me look upon Your face
My heart bursts out
As I receive Your embrace

Oh Father God, You are better than life
The sweetest of breads, the sweetest of wines
The screams of pain will slowly fade away
As I trust in You Lord, in Your arms I am safe

Psalm 3 | Spoken Word

I hear the cries, screams and the calls
Of those who hate me, and of those who hate You
They say that You will not stand by me
That You will not deliver, but I just cannot agree

Because You my God are a shield around me
You bestow glory on me and lift up my head
You see all of my pains, and you hear all of my cries
You comfort me greatly as I lay down on my side

And as I fall down in a heap, dried tears displayed on my cheeks
You watch over me, never ceasing to sleep
And if I do awake, if I see another sunrise
It’s only because another day You do choose to supply

So I will not fear, the tens of thousands against
The ones who are wicked, the ones who resent
For one day the Lord will come and deliver
Swift justice to the wicked and bless us with the Giver

So while David could not see
The fulfillment of his plea
I stand here on this side of the cross
Knowing that the Gospel means loss

So seeing David be pursued
Persecuted in servitude
Does not surprise me
But brings me to gratitude

Because the cry of David
Was for justice to reign
And I know now in Jesus
That, that promise still remains

Cause Jesus will come back
He will have His way
The wicked will be punished
And His people, He will save

Psalm 2 | Poetry

The people of the world, they gather and plot
Against the King of their world and they plan to revolt
But little do they see, the freedom that they so desperately seek
Is not found in the rebellious, but instead in the meek

And so begins their dark downward spiral, as they mischievously scoff
And the God of this world prepares His frightening wrath
He says “I have installed my King on Zion, on My holy hill”
And you can enjoy your rebellion, but you’ll one day be still

As I send My Son Jesus, my Anointed One
He’s coming to judge and there’s no where to run
Regardless of how you treat Him, He’s already the King
So stop for a second and start listening

You people of earth, be warned and be wise
Serve the Lord with fear and stop believing your lies
For believing in Jesus will free you from your sin
Blessed are all who take refuge in Him

Blue Skies

Blue Skies

We sometimes wish for these clear blue skies
That in our lives we wouldn’t have to compromise
That it’d be smooth sailing, an easy pace
Instead of every day trapped in societies rat race

Oh to rest our bones, our weary souls
We prefer instead to just be at home alone
Or perhaps with good company, over a meal
Laughing with friends, and just keeping it real

But instead here you are just reading this rhyme
And you might be feeling it, perhaps all of the time
That you’re losing your joy, emotions sucked out
Wondering exactly just how to make it all right

And myself the writer, I’m feeling it too
Overloaded and busy, I’m just trying to get through
Each and every day, of every single week
The timer keeps ticking, and the skies are looking bleak

So here I am today, trying to share with you something
That God taught me in my last few weeks
I hope it’ll be helpful, and put your minds to rest
So please hear me out, put my words to the test

I realized we move really, really fast and we don’t seem to stop
Unless it’s in our bed, and our bodies just drop
And the problem with that, is that we stop being thankful
We don’t count our blessings, from our work to our platefuls

And if you don’t actually realize, how very blessed you are
That you have this world, your life, and even God in Jesus Christ
Then you won’t actually be thankful and you won’t see God move
That each day there are miracles, because you’re just way too removed

So if you actually stop and see that God’s actually working
You know you can be patient and trust in what He’s actually been promising
Which is that one day He’ll come back and take His people with Him
Perfect rest, blue skies and joy to the brim
